Samsung Gauss 2: Next-Gen AI Models for Efficiency, Performance, and Multilingual Support
Samsung unveils Gauss 2, its second-generation AI model, offering three versions—Compact, Balanced, and Supreme—with improved performance, efficiency, and multilingual support. Learn how Gauss 2 is transforming AI applications
Gauss2 is part of the Samsung Gauss Portal.
After one year of launching its Gauss AI model, Samsung introduced a new version called Gauss 2 at the Samsung Developer Conference Korea 2024.
Gauss 2 comes in three versions: Compact, Balanced, and Supreme. Each version is made for different jobs and is faster and more efficient. Gauss 2 can also handle many types of data at once.
Features of Samsung Gauss2 Models
- Compact Model: This version is small and efficient. It works by using the device’s own computing power.
- Balanced Model: This model gives a good mix of speed and performance. It works well for most tasks.
- Supreme Model: This is the most powerful version. It uses “Mixture of Experts” technology, which means it picks the best model for each task. This helps save energy and improve performance.
Gauss2 supports between 9 and 14 languages, as well as several programming languages, depending on the version.
Samsung claims that the Balanced and Supreme models perform equally well, or even better, than other leading AI models, particularly when it comes to tasks like writing in multiple languages and coding.
How Samsung Uses Gauss2
Samsung can customize Gauss2 for special tasks. The company uses it in tools like ‘code.i,’ which helps their software developers. Gauss2 is also used in Samsung’s Device eXperience (DX) Division.
Gauss2 is part of the Samsung Gauss Portal, which helps employees with tasks like summarizing documents, translating text, and writing emails. It is also used in Samsung’s call centers to sort and summarize customer calls automatically.
Although Samsung has not yet said how Gauss2 will be used in consumer products, the company plans to add AI to more of its products in the future.
